Covid 19 Policies

We are closely monitoring the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation and continue to be guided by the New Zealand Ministry of Health and the New Zealand Government.

Your Safety

The safety of guests and our staff is our highest priority. Prevention of transmission of Covid 19 is therefore our top priority.

From 3 Dec 2021 all guests will be required to present a Vaccine Passport on boarding.

As part of our Covid 19 response plan we have intensified disinfecting of high-touch points such as handrails, door handles, point-of-sale equipment, and bench tops. All staff have been trained in the use and implementation of our sanitary measures.

Guests will be asked to wear a mask while indoors. All staff will wear masks while indoors. Our staff will wear food-safe disposable gloves while preparing or serving food items.

Please note that we may suspend service of morning and afternoon tea services as a safety precaution to prevent transmission of Covid 19.
All guests will be required to use the Contact Tracer App when on board.
Contactless payment via EFTPOS is encouraged and recommended.
Please do not be offended if our staff refuse handshakes, hugs or other physical contact.

We require any staff or guests who are feeling unwell to please stay at home and seek medical advice via Healthline or their GP.

Your Vaccine Passport

On 2 December 2021 at 11:59pm, New Zealand will move to the traffic light system.

Lake Wanaka Cruises are both MPI Food Registered and has a Liquor License under the Sale of Liquor Act. This classifies our vessel Dual Image as a hospitality venue and we are therefore required to implement one of the following options:

a) Require entry to vaccinated guests only via the Vaccine Passport.
b) Require physical distancing of 1 m, seated and separated at all times.

We believe that option B is not viable on our vessel so from 3 Dec 2021 all guests will be required to show a valid and current Vaccine Passport on boarding. We use the NZ Pass Verifier App to scan your Vaccine Passport QR code.

If you cannot travel because you are directly impacted by Covid-19 you will be offered the option to reschedule your experience, receive a Gift voucher to the value of your cruise, or a refund. For example, your region enters a lockdown, you have been identified as a close contact of a known COVID-19 case or are awaiting Covid-19 test results.

Your refund will have any credit card or bank charges that we are charged, deducted from it. This is usually 3% plus a refund fee of $2.50.

We are following all government guidelines, which could include reducing capacity numbers or stopping operating at short notice, based on changes to the alert levels at a national or regional level. In the event we are not able to cater for your booking, you will be contacted and your booking will be rescheduled or refunded.

At Lake Wanaka Cruises we plan to implement all reasonable measures to ensure your safety from contracting Covid 19. However, when boarding our vessel, Dual Image, you do so entirely at your own risk. You will be in close physical proximity to other guests. Lake Wanaka Cruises does not accept any liability for transmission of any illness, virus or disease.
